Bowls Far North Names Premier and Development Squads for 2026 Octagonal Challenge
Bowls Far North has confirmed its Premier and Development representative squads for the 2026 Octagonal Challenge, to be held on 14–15 February. For the first time in several years, the Far North will field both men’s and women’s teams across the two competitions, taking on strong opposition from Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Counties Manukau, North Harbour, Thames Valley, Northland and Waikato.
The Development Octagonal will be hosted by Bowls North Harbour at Browns Bay Bowling Club, while the Premier event will be staged by Bowls Auckland at Howick Bowling Club.
Women’s Head Selector Jill Fraser acknowledged the difficulty of final selection, noting that while the focus is on building a talented new squad, experience still has an important place in the team. Development Selector Max Hamilton expressed his excitement at naming a predominantly young and vibrant men’s side, coming together for the first time and featuring several promising players who have impressed in recent events.
Bowls Far North congratulates all selected players and looks forward to following their progress in what promises to be a competitive and entertaining Octagonal Challenge.
